Manual Methods for Unclogging Print head
Prepare a solution of 95% concentration alcohol in a shallow container, ensuring it covers just the stainless steel edges of the printhead. Soak for 2 hours to 4 days. Alcohol dissolves ink impurities without damaging the printhead, ensuring high-quality prints post-cleaning. However, it's time-consuming and intricate.
Similar to alcohol soaking, using a clean cup, disposable syringe, and intravenous infusion set. Create pressure with the syringe to force alcohol solvent into the printhead, effectively clearing dried ink. Requires careful handling and skill due to its complexity but offers quick and effective results for minor clogs.
For severe clogs, distilled water is more effective and gentle on intricate parts. Follow the pressure cleaning method but use distilled water instead of alcohol for multiple cleaning cycles until clogs are resolved.
Additional Methods if Printer's Own Cleaning Function Fails:
Place the printhead in a shallow dish with a small amount of purified water. Soak briefly, change water, and repeat if necessary before testing.
Detach the printhead, use a disposable needle to inject and pressurize purified water through the printhead's ink inlet. This method is effective but risky for certain printer models.
Suitable for separate ink cartridges, rinse empty cartridge with purified water and repeat until the printhead functions properly.
Canon Printer Printhead Cleaning:
Remove ink cartridges and immerse the nozzle section in 50-60°C warm water for 10-30 minutes.
After soaking, pat dry and absorb any excess ink using a paper towel. Reinstall and print a test page to verify cleaning effectiveness.
